Life & Ministry Development - SIMA MAP and Life(n)

Idea in Brief

This Orientation to Life and Ministry Development tool is a collection of two tools introducing the SIMA MAP and Life(n) resources.

  • The SIMA MAP tool is a collection of an Identifying Who You Are Designed to Be Workshop Guide, an example of a completed set of Identifying Who You Are Designed to Be worksheets that fits into the workshop or can stand alone, and a Guide for Using Identifying Who You Are Designed to Be that also fits into the workshop or can stand alone.
  • The Life(n) tool is a collection of a Life(n) Workshop Guide, an example of a completed Life Development Plan that fits into the workshop or can stand alone, and a Guide for Using Life(n) that also fits into the workshop or can stand alone.

Why

The SIMA MAP tool is important because the BILD partners who have been influenced by the evolutionary paradigm of human design and narrow classifications of personality types often lack competency in understanding and using the SIMA resources that sit at the heart of the Life(n) life development planning process.  The purpose of this workshop guide is to orient participants to the basic features of the self-assessed SIMA MAP creation process by reviewing the overall content and intended outcome of the Identifying Who You Are Designed to Be book, by considering an example of a completed set of Identifying Who You Are Designed to Be worksheets, and by imagining practical ways to roll-out the self-assessed SIMA MAP creation process in their own ministry contexts.

The Life(n) tool is important because the BILD partners who have been influenced by the schooling paradigm often think about taking BILD courses merely in an academic way rather than as a process of acquiring wisdom within a holistic life development plan.  The purpose of this workshop guide is to orient participants to the basic features of the Life(n) process by reviewing the overall content and intended outcome of the Life(N) book, by considering an example of a completed Life Development Portfolio/Plan, and by imagining practical ways to roll-out the Life(n) process in their own ministry contexts.

Who

The intended audience for this tool is Sodal-type church leaders who are responsible for mentoring and training church leaders at every level of development in churches and church networks worldwide.

Desired Outcome

  • As a result of using the SIMA MAP tool, top church leaders should develop a basic understanding of the Identifying Who You Are Designed to Be resource and how to skillfully use it in guiding their constituents through the process of creating their self-assessed SIMA MAPs.
  • As a result of using the Life(n) tool, top church leaders should develop a basic understanding of the Life(n) Life Stewardship in Community resource and how to skillfully use it in guiding their constituents through the process of creating their own wisdom oriented life development plans.
